Percy's
Antiques
Kobey's
has many vendors who come each week to sell antiques, collectibles
and novelties. Joe & Percy Jenko offer a diverse selection
of high-quality merchandise which is added to regularly.
Joe & Percy Jenko pride themselves on the unique and unusual
items displayed in their large booth at Kobey's. Percy handles
the vintage costume jewelry, hats and handbags while Joe's
favorites are used fishing gear and professional quality,
vintage musical instruments.
Percy's is similar to most antique stores, with lots of
interesting things to marvel at. Sometimes it's something
Japanese, such as an acupuncture doll made from elephant
ivory, or a Nippon violin from the 19th century.
When it comes to beautiful musical instruments, Joe can't
pass them by. Music lovers and performers will appreciate
the fair prices he asks for them. Prices vary according
to each individual piece. Instruments offered can include
clarinets, guitars and violins.
Fishermen will enjoy perusing the huge selection of rods
and reels as well as tackle boxes filled with old lures
of all kinds. On occasion Jenko has special items available
such as a 19th century Japanese bamboo fly-rod with matching
lures and hand-made carrying box he came across this past
summer.
If an item is high-quality or unusual Joe Jenko has a difficult
time passing it up during a buying trip. He admits that
although he has a garage packed with merchandise, he sometimes
can't decide what to bring to Kobey's. He may have to part
with it!
Percy is on the lookout for sophisticated retro styles
to compliment her collection of gorgeous accessories and
costume jewelry. If it sparkles you'll find it on her side
of the booth. Shoppers could spend hours in their booth
looking at all the collectibles on display which can include
movie props, WWII medals and vintage hand-crafts. When they
can find them, the Jenko's also offer vintage Breyer horses
at around $25, about half the price of the newer ones which
are made differently today.
Percy's Antiques has had a presence at Kobey's since 1991.
It's not only a part-time money maker for the Jenkos, it's
also a hobby they love. Look for Percy's Antiques at Kobey's
on both Sat. and Sun. The stand jumps around on P-S rows.
